FIELD: medicine, preparation of 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethanol (n- tyrosol). SUBSTANCE: in order to prepare 2-4- (hydroxyphenyl)ethanol, 4-bromophenol is made to react with butyl lithium in ether or tetrahydrofuran at 33-34 C for 3-5 hours and then with ethylene oxide at -15- -12 C for 1 hour and at room temperature for 1 hour followed by treatment of reaction mixture with 5-20 wt % of hydrochloric acid solution in water. Yield of desired 2- (4-hydroxyphenyl)ethanol is increased to 80%. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 5 cl, 4 ex
