Academician Mikhail Fedorovich Zhukov is a brilliant versatile scientist and an organizer of science, an author of numerous learned works. Basic research of M.F.Zhukov in the field of gas dynamics and low-temperature plasma are widely known in our country and abroad. The scope of his scientific interests is rather wide and includes supersonic compressors and a new class of transonic wind tunnels, near-electrode processes and erosion of electrode material, heat exchange, stability of electric arch burning, etc.
Since 1960 and up to the end of his life, Mikhail Fedorovich worked in the Siberian branch of RAS.
From 1975 to 1980, M.F.Zhukov is chief scientific secretary of the Presidium of SB AS USSR. He was the editor-in-chief of the magazine "News of SB AS USSR", for more than 15 years; he was a member of the editorial council of "Contributions to Plasma Physics" journal for a long time.
M.F.Zhukov is the author of many books and articles; a series of popular albums of plasmatron constructions has been published under his edition and with his direct participation. Many of these books became reference books for scientists and for experts in the field of low-temperature plasma and they form a theoretical base to design and manufacture the high performance equipment for newest processes with the use of plasma.
In 2004, the disciples of Mikhail Fedorovich have finished publishing a unique 20-volume serial "Low-temperature plasma", that has been issuing since 1990. This series has been conceived by M.F.Zhukov and it was realized with his direct participation. This work was suspended with the death of the scientist in December 1998. His disciples and colleagues not only have published the last volume, but also decided to continue publishing the monographs devoted to high-temperature technological processes.
The electronic resource that deals with life and work of academician M.F.Zhukov is composed of a biobibliographic index, tables of contents of monographs and collections of full texts of certain works of the scientist and publications about him. The biobibliographic index reflects learned works, editorial works, certificates of authorship on inventions and patents, publicistic articles and public speeches as well as the literature about the scientist.
Biobibliography of M.F.Zhukov was made up by N.I.Kalinikova and A.V.Skovpen, the employees of the Library of the S.A.Khristianovich Institute of theoretical and applied mechanics of SB RAS.
Catalogues, funds, and electronic resources of the State Public Scientific Technical Library of SB RAS (including the databases "Scientific-and-educational complex of Novosibirsk" and "Science in Siberia and in the Far East") and the library of Institute of theoretical and applied mechanics of SB RAS, as well as resources of the Internet have been used when working on the biobibliography.
Materials of the index are arranged chronologically in two basic sections: "Index of works of M.F.Zhukov" and "Literature on his life and work".
