Academician N.N.YanenkoChronology of life and work of N.N.Yanenko (1921-1984)

An outstanding Soviet mathematician and mechanic, the Hero of Socialist Labour, three times winner of the USSR State premium, Nikolay Nikolaevich Yanenko was born on May 22, 1921, in the city of Kainsk, Novosibirsk region.

 1942 He graduated from physical and mathematical branch of Tomsk State University with an honour degree. 
1942-1945He fought for his Motherland on the fronts of Great Patriotic War. He was awarded with battle medals and with the Red Banner Order.
1946-1949Post-graduate student of scientific research institute of mathematics and mechanics of the Moscow State University.
1949He protected successfully the PhD thesis "O nyekotorykh nyeobkhodimykh priznakakh izgibayemykh povyerkhnostyei v n-myernom yevklidovom prostranstvye".
1948-1953He worked as Junior and then Senior research associate of Geophysical Complex Expedition.
1953He was awarded with the Order of the Labour Red Banner.
1953-1955Senior research associate and at the same time, the Scientific secretary of the Branch of Applied Mathematics in the MIAS USSR.
1953He was granted the rank of the State premium winner of the third degree for fulfilling a special task of the Government.
1954He has protected the thesis for a doctor's degree "K tyeorii vlozhyeniya rimanovykh myetrik v mnogomyernoye yevklidovo prostranstvo".
1955He was awarded with the second Order of the Labour Red Banner.
1955-1963Chief, and then the studies supervisor of the mathematical branch that was created in Snezhinsk (Chelyabinsk region) SCI-1011 (Nowadays, the Russian Federal Nuclear Centre Academician E.I.Zababahin ASCI of technical physics)
1960Granted the rank of the professor in a speciality "Mathematical physics".
1971For the third time he was awarded with the Order of the Labour Red Banner.
1963-1976He worked first as the Head of a laboratory, and then the Head of the department of numerical methods of continuous medium mechanics in the SB AS USSR CC.
In combination, he worked as the assistant, the senior teacher, and the professor of Moscow and Novosibirsk universities.
1966He was elected the Corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
1970He was elected the Full member of the Academy of sciences of the USSR.
1972He was awarded the rank of the State premium winner for fulfilling a special task of the Government.
1975He was awarded with the Order of October Revolution.
1976-1984Director of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of SB AS USSR.
1981He got the rank of the Hero of Socialist Labour.
1985He was awarded the rank of the State premium winner for his monograph "Systems of quasi-linear equations and their applications to gas dynamics" (together with B.L.Rozhdyestvyenskii; 1st edition - 1968, 2nd -1978)
