Alexander Badmaevich Soktoev, corresponding member of RAS (1931-1998), is the leading expert in the field of literary criticism and folklore, the leader of Siberian folkloristic school, the founder and the first head of a fundamental academic scientific edition of the 60-volume bilingual series «Folklore Monuments of peoples from Siberia and the Far East».

A.Soktoev has designed a concept, unique in the international cultural practice, to publish folklore classics of Asian Russia in unity of philological, historical and cultural, and ethnographic aspects with the analysis of musical stylistics of oral national art works of different genres and a sound appendix of their samples.

The academic bilingual 60-volume publication «Folklore Monuments of peoples from Siberia and the Far East» that is realized by folklore sector of the Institute of Philology of SB RAS and by a large group of authors that composed the volumes, is a fundamental humanitarian interdisciplinary project that constitutes a new type of the publication and the research of oral national pieces of ethnos from Siberian-and-Far East region (including Slavic immigrants: Russians, Ukrainians, Byelorussians). Pieces of different genres of folklore that were still little-known in world culture have been presented in their original language and in Russian translation, have been supplied with scientific comments, the analysis of their musical stylistics and the sound appendix of samples performed by the best storytellers.

Since 1990 until the present time, the sector of folklore has published 29 volumes.

The electronic resource that is devoted to life and activity of A.B.Soktoev, corresponding member of RAS, consists of a biobibliographic index, tables of contents for monographs and collection issues. It includes full texts of certain works of the scientist and publications about him.

The biobibliographic index reflects learned works, editorial works, publicistic articles, and public speeches as well as the literature on scientific and pedagogical work of the scientist.

Founders of the resource express their respect to collaborators of sector of folklore of the SB RAS Institute of philology and, particularly, to Evgeniya Nikolaevna Kuzmina, the head of the sector, Doctor of Philology for the given materials to bibliography of A.B.Soktoev.

Catalogues, stocks, and electronic resources of the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian Branch of RAS, of the Scientific library of the Buryat State University, of National library of Republic Buryatiya, as well as the bibliography of learned works of A.B.Soktoev that had been compiled by M.K.Mitkinov (see Mitkinov M.K. Bibliografiya nauchnykh trudov chlyena-korryespondyenta RAN A.B. Materials of the index are arranged chronologically in two basic sections: «Index of works of A.B.Soktoev» and «Literature on his life and work».
