Academician YUrii Nikolayevich Molin is the scientist with a world name, the expert in the field of chemical physics, the disciple and the follower of brilliant domestic school of academicians N.N.Semenov and V.V.Voevodskii. The work of Yu.N.Molin in the Russian Academy of sciences began upon graduating the Moscow institute of physics and technology in 1957 as the young scientific associate of the Institute of chemical physics of AS USSR (Moscow). In 1959, under the invitation of the academician V.V.Voyevodskii he has moved to Novosibirsk and started to work in the Institute of chemical kinetics and combustion of Siberian Branch where he has passed the way from the young scientific associate to the director of the Institute.

The area of scientific interests of Yu.N.Molin is rather extensive. It includes many aspects of modern chemical physics, chemical kinetics: the problems of structure, reactivity of active intermediate particles, specifically, free radicals, complexes, the excited molecules, and certainly radiospectroscopy.

Yu.N.Molin has made the great contribution to the development of methods of chemical magnetic radiospectroscopy, to the studies of the structure and properties of short-lived paramagnetic intermediates of chemical reactions, and well as the studies of physical methods of elementary chemical processes. He has devoted the significant part of his scientific activity to the creation of the new physical methods for the research of elementary chemical processes and short-lived paramagnetic intermediates where EPR radiospectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance were applied as a basis of the developed methods.

Yury Nikolaevich is the author of several monographs, the member of editorial boards of many popular magazines in the scientific world. He successfully combines the productive scientific activity with the pedagogical one and since 1972 he is the head of subfaculty of chemical physics in the Novosibirsk state university.

Since 1978 to 1988, academician Yu.N.Molin is the editor-in-chief of "Journal of structural chemistry ". Since 1989 to the present time, he is the member of publishing council of the journal.
