Academician Gury Ivanovich Marchuk is an eminent scientist in the field of computational and applied mathematics, computer science, and mathematical modelling.

The Socialist Labour Hero, academician Marchuk was the Chairman of the Siberian Branch, the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology, and the last President of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

G.I.Marchuk has brought a significant contribution to the theory of algorithms of perturbations and conjugated equations, on the basis of which he proposed mathematical models of physical processes in the atmosphere and ocean, and weather forecast. Scientific interests of G.I.Marchuk in the later time were related to the global problems: climatic changes, contamination of the planet, preservation of the planet gene pool.

G.I.Marchuk is the author of more than 350 scientific works in computational and applied mathematics, in mathematical modelling of the physical problems of atmosphere and ocean, of the environment, in immunology and medicine.

Scientific activity of academician G.I.Marchuk has been rewarded with the rank of Socialist Labour Hero, with four V.I.Lenin Orders, with the order «For the merits for the Motherland» of the IV degree and with orders of foreign countries: France, India, Cuba, and Bulgaria. G.I.Marchuk is elected the foreign member of 11 academies. He has the rank of the honourable doctor in 8 universities of the world.

The electronic resource that is devoted to life and work of academician G.I.Marchuk consists of a biobibliographic index, tables of contents of some monographs and collection issues, references to full texts of certain works of the scientist, and publications about him.

The biobibliographic index reflects learnt works, editorial works, publicistic articles, and the literature on the scientist.

The biobibliographic index «Guriy Ivanovich Marchuk» that was prepared and published in the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian Branch of RAS in 2010 for the 85th anniversary from the date of birth of the scientist (compiled by L.A.Mandrinina) has been used in this work together with catalogues, stocks, and electronic resources of SPSL SB RAS. The search has been performed also in abstract magazines, in the annals of journal papers, the book annals, the annals of newspaper articles. The use was made of Scopus, Web of Science databases, Zentralblatt MATH, Math-Net.Ru mathematical portal, of electronic catalogues and databases in the big Russian and foreign libraries.
