Alexey Andreevich Lyapunov is an outstanding scientist-mathematician who has enriched the national science in the field of set theory, cybernetics, and the programming, who is famous for his successful applications of mathematical methods in various fields of engineering and natural sciences.
In 1956, A.A.Lyapunov organized the publication of a series of collection issues "Cybernetics Problems". The collection issues gained world popularity in a short time. Many issues and particular articles have been translated into English and German. 29 issues of "Cybernetics Problems", edited by A.A.Lyapunov, had been published before 1973. The disciples of Alexey Andreevich continued the publication of them.
In 1962, A.A.Lyapunov accepted the invitation of academician M.A.Lavrentyev and moves to Novosibirsk, to Akademgorodok of SB AS USSR. Since the first days of his stay in the Siberia, he participated actively in the scientific and pedagogical activity (first as the head of sub-faculty of mathematical analysis and then as the professor of sub-faculty of cybernetics that had been created in NSU) with his initiative and in research work (in the Institute of mathematics SB AS USSR and in the Department of Cybernetics of the Institute of hydrodynamics of SB AS USSR).
The range of his scientific and pedagogical activity is extraordinarily wide. He makes lectures in general mathematical analysis, set theory, introduction to theoretical cybernetics, cybernetic questions of biology, mathematical linguistics and the bases of machine translation; he conducts seminars in programming and theory of computers, in machine translation, in simulation of production technologies, mathematical questions of population theory, cybernetic questions of population theory, cybernetic questions of endocrine system, and general seminar in mathematical biology. A.A.Lyapunov interested in the issues of mathematical education and deontology both in higher education and in high school.
Alexey Andreevich is the Chairman of the Council of young scientists and the first Chairman of the Academic Council of a special high school in physics and mathematics in Akademgorodok.
He published nearly 400 works in set theory and on the problems of cybernetics, a new synthetic science, and its numerous applications to modern natural sciences.
The electronic resource that is devoted to life and work of A.A.Lyapunov consists of a biobibliographic index, tables of contents of monographs and collection issues, full texts of particular works of the scientist, and publications about him.
The biobibliographic index reflects learned works, editorial works, publicistic articles, and public speeches, as well as the literature about the scientist.
Our work on the biobibliography involved catalogues, stocks, and electronic resources of SPSL of SB RAS (including the databases "Scientific-and-educational complex of Novosibirsk" and "Science in Siberia and in the Far East"), a biobibliographic index Alyeksyei Andryeyevich Lyapunov / Rossiiskaya Akadyemiya nauk; sost. R.I.Kuz'myenko i N.A.Lyapunova. - M.: Nauka, 1996. - 89 s. - (Matyerialy k biobibliografii uchyenykh. Syer. matyematichyeskikh nauk; Vyp.19), and also the Internet resources.
Materials of the index are arranged chronologically in two basic sections: "Index of works of A.A.Lyapunov" and "Literature on his life and work". Standard abbreviations are used in the index.
