Mikhail Mikhaylovich Lavrentyev is an outstanding Russian mathematician, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a professional in the field of the differential equations theory, calculus, and mathematical modelling in geophysics, the winner of Lenin and State Premiums of the USSR.
M.M.Lavrentyev created currently world-wide recognized, Siberian school of thought on inverse and ill-posed problems: he was the supervisor on more than 100 protected PhD theses, and several dozen of his disciples became doctors of sciences. M.M.Lavrentyev has significant merits in development of scientific studies into inverse and ill-posed problems and abroad, particularly, in Italy, America, and Japan. He is the author of over hundred learned works that include 8 monographs.
M.M.Lavrentyev was the editor-in-chief of «Siberian Mathematical Journal», «Siberian Magazine of Industrial Mathematics», of the international «Journal of Inverse and Ill-Posed Problems»; he was involved into editorial boards of several other mathematical magazines.
The electronic resource that deals with life and work of academician M.M.Lavrentyev consists of a biobibliographic index, tables of contents of monographs and collection issues, references to full texts of some transactions of the scientist, and publications about him.
The biobibliographic index reflects learned works, editorial works, publicistic papers, and literature on the scientistThe resource founders express their thanks to the personnel of the library of the S.L.Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of SB RAS for their consultations and the submitted materials for the biobibliography.
Working on the subject, we used a biobibliographic index «Mikhail Mikhailovich Lavryentyev» that was prepared and published in S.L.Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of the Siberian Branch of RAS in 2012 for the 80th anniversary from the date of a birth of the scientist (scientific editor V.G.Romanov) as well as catalogues, stocks, and electronic resources of SPSL SB RAS. Search was performed also over abstract magazines, over the Annals of Journal Papers, the Book Annals, the Annals of Newspapers. The use was made of databases Scopus, Web of Science, Zentralblatt MATH, Math-Net.Ru mathematical portal, electronic catalogues and databases of large Russian and foreign libraries. .
Materials of the index are arranged chronologically in two basic sections: «Index of works of M.M.Lavrentyev» and «Literature on his life and work».
