Academician Dmitrii Georgievich Knorre is the largest scientist-biochemist who has received world popularity and gratitude. He has made a big contribution to the achievements of physicochemical biology, to the development of theoretical bases of the complementary-addressed modification of nucleic acids. D.G.Knorre has done a huge work on creating the domestic instrument and reactive base to perform investigations on molecular biology and biotechnology. The scientist is widely known for his research into mechanisms of the formation of peptide, phosphodiester, and phosphoamide bonds, for his discoveries concerning the structure and functions of nucleic acids, for his works on enzymology of matrix synthesis with the use of methods of controlled action upon nucleic acids and proteins. Moreover, this is far from being the complete list of his scientific interests.
He was at the source of creating the Department of biochemistry in the Novosibirsk institute of organic chemistry, and then, of the Novosibirsk institute of bioorganic chemistry , the director of which he was since 1984 to 1996. Since he was a recognized authority in the field of molecular biology, bioorganic chemistry, and biochemistry, even being retired for his age from the majority of posts, D.Knorre, the RAS counselor, continues an active participation in scientific life of Akademgorodok; he heads the work of seminars, he is the vice-president of dissertational council of the institute.
Disciples-followers of the school of experts in bioorganic chemistry that has been created by him became the first-class researchers that head to advantage several scientific institutes. His textbooks became classical, and not a single generation of students is being brought up with them.
The electronic resource that is devoted to the life and activity of D.G.Knorre is composed of a biobibliographic index, tables of contents of monographs, and the full text collections of certain works of the scientist and publications about him.
Learned works, editorial works, certificates of authorship for inventions and patents, publicistic articles, as well as literature on the scientist are reflected in the biobibliographic index.
Founders of the resource express their thanks to the collaborators of the library of the SB RAS Institute of chemical biology and fundamental medicine for their aid while working on the index of works of D.G.Knorre.
When working on the biobibliography catalogues, we used stocks and electronic resources of the State Public Scientific Technical Library of SB RAS (including the databases "Scientific-and-educational complex of Novosibirsk" and "Science in Siberia and in the Far East") and those of the library of Institute of chemical biology and fundamental medicine of SB RAS as well as Internet resources.
Materials of the index are arranged chronologically in two basic sections: "the Index of works of D.G.Knorre" and "Literature on his life and work".
The sources that we have failed to see de visu have been remarked with * ("an asterisk"). Standard abbreviations are used within the index.
