Academician Vasily Mikhaylovich Fomin is the representative of the scientific school of academician S.A.KHristianovich. Since 1990 he heads the Institute of theoretical and applied mechanics of SB RAS (ITAM). The main direction of scientific research of V.Fomin is related to the development of physical and mathematical models for impact-wave processes of high-speed collision of bodies, action of detonation products of explosives on the condensed media, and heterogeneous flows of mixtures of gas with solids with reference to problems of aerodynamics, detonation, and RESF. As of now, V.M.Fomin is the founder and the head of scientific school that is officially recognized in Russia on simulation of impact-wave processes in the multicomponent and heterogeneous media. In 1996, V.M.Fomin has been elected the principal scientific secretary of the Siberian branch of RAS.

The electronic resource that is devoted to his life and activity, is made up of a biobibliographic index, tables of contents of monographs, and collection issues of full texts of certain works of the scientist and publications about him.

The biobibliographic index reflects proceedings, editorial works, certificates of authorship on inventions and patents, publicistic articles, and public speeches, as well as literature about the scientist.

Materials of the index are arranged chronologically in two main sections: "Index of works of V.M.Fomin" (with the list of inventions ) and "Literature on his life and work".
