Academician Veniamin Pavlovich Chebotaev (1938-1992) is an outstanding scientist in the field of quantum electronics and laser physics that is widely known in Russia and abroad. V.P.Chebotaev created the world-famous school in the field of ultrahigh resolution spectroscopy and quantum metrology. He is the author of over 350 publications that include 4 monographs and 3 of them have been translated and published abroad.

In the field of quantum electronics, V.P.Chebotaev pioneered in creating lasers with the discharge within a hollow cathode, lasers with a narrow amplification line; he has got generation on the forward impulse front. For the first time he has observed optical bistability in a laser with nonlinear absorption. These pioneer studies provided the basis for several directions in quantum electronics. In the field of spectroscopy, V.P.Chebotaev suggested and implemented new methods that provided the basis for nonlinear laser spectroscopy of ultrahigh resolution and millions times enhanced the resolution of the instrument. Under his guide, the lasers have been created that are the most monochromatic sources of coherent electromagnetic radiation. Using them, high-precision experiments have been made to observe quantum and relativistic effects in optics. With the collaborators, he was the first to create an optical time scale that used a period of optical oscillations of a stable laser as a time unit.

The electronic resource that is devoted to his life and work includes a biobibliographic index, tables of contents of monographs and collection issues, full texts of certain works of the scientist and publications about him. The biobibliographic index reflects learned works, editorial works, certificates of authorship for his inventions, and literature on the scientist.

Biobibliography of V.P.Chebotaev has been compiled by A.O.Shishkina, the manager of the library of Institute of laser physics of SB RAS .

Catalogues, stocks, and electronic resources of the State Public Scientific Technical Library of SB RAS (including the databases "Scientific-and-educational complex of Novosibirsk" and "Science in Siberia and in the Far East") and of the library of the SB RAS Institute of laser physics, as well as Internet resources, have been used when working on the biobibliography.

Materials of the index are arranged chronologically in two basic sections: "Index of works of V.P.Chebotaev" and "the literature on his life and work".
