The volume is the first academic bilingual publication of non-folktale prose of Tuvinians. Myths that were included in first part are the following: cosmogonic, about creation of the world, etiological, toponymic and genealogic, about supernatural inhabitants of the Medium and Bottom worlds, as well as mythological stories about shamen, folk doctors, and smiths. The second part consists of toponymic legends, legends about historical persons, about fighters for the Tuva freedom, about outstanding athletes, runners.
The introductory part discloses peculiar features and genre originality of Tuvan non-folktale prose, the history how it was collected and studied. The compact disc with samples of myths and legends that is supplied with the volume constitutes the first audiopublication of the Tuvan non-folktale prose.
