The book is the first academic edition of Udehe folklore. It includes 78 tests representing various genres: nimanku (folktales), telungu (stories of traditional life and customs), and ekhe (songs).

Most of the texts were recorded during fieldwork from native speakers of different dialects over a thirty-year period. Texts from the personal archive of V. T. Kyalundzyuga, one of the best experts on Udehe culture, formed the basis for the volume. The volume also contains archived recordings that include the first Udehe texts prepared for publication based on early 20th century expedition diaries left by the renowned scholar of the Far East, V. K. Arsen'yev.
