The volume contains the Shor heroic tales «Kan Pergen» and «Altyn Syryk». The latter tale is published in a traditional folklore style, while the former reflects an innovative approach to publishing heroic epics of Siberian peoples.
«Kan Pergen» represents the first time in Russian folklore studies that an entire epos has been published in a way that accurately captures the sound of the original narration. All the sections performed with instrumental accompaniment are provided with musical scores. Excerpts of the tale are recorded on the accompanying record. Both works are performed by the talented Shor kaichi P. I. Kydiyakov.
