| Our curiosity concerning the nature, history and origin of the Sun and planets has taken us far beyond the limits of our still imperfectly understood Earth. Men have walked upon the Moon, and unmanned spacecraft have explored our nearer planetary neighbours. Already Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter have yielded some of their secrets to the probing eyes of spacecraft cameras, and further ventures in the Solar System will add to our knowledge of other worlds.
